What are Drew Nieporent’s favorite things to do in New York City?

For me, I grew up in New York, so obviously I know the streets quite well. I do a lot of things related to sports. I’m at almost every one of the arenas at some point. We have a restaurant in Citi Field [where the Mets play]. I’m doing hamburgers down in Madison Square Garden, so now I have even more of an excuse to go to these places. For me, New York is kind of an endless exploration. Just two days ago, I was in Brooklyn for the first time in a long time, and the dining scene there is very different, so that was exciting. There’s always new frontiers to learn about in New York. For me, Chinatown is where I like to bring friends to hang around.

I’ve got a pretty good routine. I think you’ve got to make sure you’re not bringing too many clothes. I carry on my luggage, I usually don’t check it. You need your laptop and all of your reading materials. You always have to have a couple DVDs of movies you’ve been wanting to see.

What are Drew Nieporent’s favorite restaurants?

I like Blackbird in Chicago. Paul Kahan’s restaurants are all generally very good, but I really like Blackbird. And Vetri by Marc Vetri in Philadelphia — it’s kind of an intelligent restaurant, and not only with the choice of the menu.

What are Drew Nieporent’s favorite hotels?

In Los Angeles, it’s Hotel Bel-Air. They just re-did it and it’s really nice. The Four Seasons in Jackson Hole is an absolutely stunning hotel. I’ve been to a lot of places in San Francisco, but I kind of like the mentality on the water there.

What are Drew Nieporent's favorite cities to visit?

San Francisco, Boston and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

San Francisco has a great food scene. I had my restaurant there, Rubicon, for 14 years. You get a good feeling there. It’s very food- and wine-centric — the way I like to travel.

Jackson-Hole is just absolutely stunning visually. We did an event there in June and it’s just a very beautiful part of the world.

London is an amazing place. I just love the architecture. I do a lot of walking in London. It’s always remarkable to me how much of a beautiful city it is. And also, with all the time we’ve spent in London, the dining scene kind of reminds me of New York. It’s kind of a burgeoning dining scene, so it’s exciting. When I’m there, I stay at the Metropolitan quite a bit, and the Dorchester as well.
