Dunton Hot Springs is located in Dolores, Colorado. It sits in a small valley in a wilderness area of the San Juan National Forest about 30 miles southwest of Telluride, and in the middle of a triangle formed by Telluride, Cortez and Montrose, not far from Mesa Verde National Park and its famed American Indian cliff dwellings. It is on the southwestern edge of Colorado near the “Four Corners,” where the Arizona, Utah and New Mexico borders meet.
Dunton itself occupies 200 acres, but the same owner has an adjacent luxury tented resort and between them there are 1,600 private acres accessible to Dunton guests, plus the open-to-the-public national forest surrounding the resort, and eight miles of private fishing right on the West Fork of the Dolores River. The luxury hotel is a seven-hour drive from Denver, but there are four nearby airports — Telluride (45 minutes), Montrose (2.5 hours), Durango (two hours and 20 minutes) and Cortez (1.5 hours) — and helicopter transfers are available.
