The Berkshires are bustling and overflowing with cultural venues, all quite close to Blantyre. Tanglewood (featuring James Taylor to Beethoven), Jacob’s Pillow, Shakespeare and Company, Norman Rockwell Museum, the Clark Art Institute and Mass MOCA are all just a few minutes away from the hotel. The Mount (Edith Wharton’s Home and Gardens) and Ventfort Hall (the museum of the Gilded Ages) are all a stone’s throw away from Blantyre.
Blantyre is an attraction in and of itself. The luxury hotel, which began as a home in the 1800s, oozes with history and culture. You’ll need a car if you want to leave the property, but a favorite nearby attraction is Tanglewood — the summer home to the Boston Symphony Orchestra. During July and August, Tanglewood and the BSO host outdoor concerts, and you can make a night of it with a picnic, wine and champagne under the stars. Another summertime attraction is Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, America’s longest-running international dance fest, which has featured top dance companies like the Mark Morris Dance Group. You will find plenty to see in this tucked-away part of Western Massachusetts.
