The Norman Rockwell Museum, the Clark Art Institute, Williams College Art Museum, MassMOCA, Edith Wharton’s The Mount and several historic homes are all located within a short drive from Blantyre.
Museums are plentiful in the Berkshires, and many are just a short drive from Blantyre. The Norman Rockwell Museum is a 20-minute drive from the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel and houses the world’s largest collection of original Rockwell art. A little farther out, about a 50-minute drive, is the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, which carries a collection of Impressionist paintings, silver and sculpture. The 13-acre Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, another 50-minute trip, is a must for those who love contemporary art and sculpture. The Crane Museum, as in the famous papermaker, traces the history of papermaking in the United States. The half-hour drive is worth it for the gift shop alone, where you can purchase lovely stationery as a souvenir of your vacation.
