What are the best things to do in the Home Counties?

London’s Home Counties has a plethora of beautiful manor homes and castles scattered across the countryside. Almost a thousand years ago, Windsor Castle served as home for Henry I, although his descendants moved around more during the Tudor era (including other county landmarks such as Highclere, Dover and Hever castles). Hatfield House and Hampton Court Palace are also worth a visit. England’s oldest pub, in Hertfordshire, similarly dates back to the 1600s.

For outdoor fun, famous racetracks such as Newbury and Ascot host major events throughout the year and the Royal Ascot in June is a classic tradition. Seaside spots such as Brighton Beach and numerous piers are lovely for a stroll while the White Cliffs of Dover and nearby Seven Sisters Country Park make a great hike to see the famous chalk bluffs.

From fine dining to traditional English pub fare, London’s Home Counties have food options galore.
