Toronto is the kind of city that has something for everyone. Everyone has their favorite watering hole that they would stand by through thick and thin -- whether it’s a local sports bar, old-school pub or a lively nightclub. Below are a few of my personal favorites.

Joe Mama’s -- Right in the core of Toronto’s Entertainment District, Joe Mama’s is a great bar where patrons can enjoy a relaxed vibe with great live music. From Thursday to Saturday nights, Joe Mama’s features bands that play the best of rhythm and blues, motown and soul. In one night, you can hear anything from Michael Jackson to Madonna, old Reggae songs and soulful ballads.

Buddies in Bad Times Theatre -- Toronto’s favorite gay bar, Buddies is actually a not-for-profit theatre that turns into a nightclub every Friday and Saturday night. If you love dancing to the likes of Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and Madonna, this is the place for you. And, at midnight, you’ll be treated to a drag show.

Real Sports Bar & Grill -- Here’s a spot for sport-lovers. Real Sports is the place where sports fans unite to watch a game on the big screen, enjoy a few drinks and munch on bar food. The atmosphere is always lively and the food is much better than your average bar. If you are planning on visiting Real Sports on a game night, be sure to make reservations beforehand.

The classic hotel bar is making a comeback in Toronto thanks to a slew of new luxury properties in the downtown core.

Hipsters congregate by The Lobby Bar at the oh-so hip Thompson Hotel to sip on cocktails like the Saison D’Amere, a vodka drink infused with blood orange and lime juices served in a delightful chilled coquette.

The theatre crowd head to the Ritz Bar at the Ritz Carlton Toronto for post or pre performance chatter over some of the finest herb-infused cocktails in the city. You know cocktail making is serious stuff when the mixologist grows his own indoor fresh herb garden at the bar.

Whenever Donald Trump’s name is associated with anything you expect it to be “YEW-GE!”  A lot of punch and bravado go with the territory and The Trump Toronto does not disappoint. It has two bars: the Stock Restaurant Bar and Lounge and the Suits Lobby Lounge. Both bars boast fabulous decor alongside cocktail menus fit for any film celeb or real estate baron.
