A calm, cool luxury spa in Turks & Caicos
4 Treatment rooms
Tucked away on the island of Providenciales in Turks & Caicos, the secluded Asian-inspired resort Amanyara boasts a spa like no other — especially in the Caribbean. At Amanyara Spa, you won’t find obligatory tropical-themed treatments or brightly colored facilities. Instead, spa guests will enter a serene 64,500-square-foot indoor/outdoor wellness area made up of pagoda-like structures overlooking a large reflection pond surrounded by mahogany trees. Tranquility reaches new heights thanks to the muted earth tones, the lush surrounding landscape, the four double treatment pavilions (for couples massages, if you please) and the large relaxation pavilion. Guests can indulge in a variety of massages, wraps, scrubs and facials, while complimentary morning yoga classes held in the spa’s outdoor yoga sala are also on the daily agenda.
Both spa novices and experienced spagoers can get what they want at this luxury resort spa. The menu includes standards like aromatherapy massages and organic pedicures (good for first-timers), as well as services for those who want to try something a bit more advanced. Four different Holistic Journeys ranging from 90 to 120 minutes aim to bring you serenity, harmony, purity or hydration via unique treatment combos (a cooling body wrap plus application of aloe vera, a Himalayan salt scrub combined with a clay body wrap). The Harmony journey is particularly tempting for those looking to unwind — it starts with a full body exfoliation before a warm outdoor candlelit bath with rose and flower essences, and is finished with a calming massage using both Shiatsu and Swedish techniques.
Those typical-sounding treatments have a unique twist — body massages can incorporate Thai stretches, hot herbal compresses and hot stones, and facials can include acupressure to release tension. Even the signature manicure includes a scalp massage. Looking to trying something totally new? The Water Shiatsu service will have you floating in a pool of warm water in order to stretch the spinal column and open your chakras.
Beyond the treatment pavilions, relaxation area, spa boutique, outdoor yoga sala, and the 108-square-foot swimming pool flanked by sun loungers, there is a 375-square-foot Pilates studio (equipped with reformers and other apparatus) for group and private classes. The latter features an individualized workout based on your body’s needs. Private yoga classes, too, can be arranged. And while not directly located at the spa, Amanyara has additional wellness amenities that can be enjoyed pre- or post-treatment. They include a fitness center, four clay tennis courts, the resort’s main swimming pool with ocean views, and a terrazzo walkway that winds around a tranquil reflecting pool.
