The Arrabelle at Vail Square 's restaurant, Tavern on the Square, actually has the look of an upscale pub, with its dark walls, simple wood tables and a long indoor bar for people to watch games on a huge TV screen. The Tavern also has quieter areas, delineated by massive archways. In the summertime, a second bar at the glassed-in side of the room opens up, giving diners on the patio an opportunity to get a drink without going inside. As for the cuisine, executive chef Douglas Dodd stresses the farm-to-fork philosophy whenever possible, but he does so with imaginative twists. And while the menu changes to reflect the seasons, cross your fingers that the buffalo meatloaf, the pretzel-covered Berkshire pork chop or build-your-own macaroni are available when you visit.
