A boutique Vail retreat
The Sebastian Vail fills a niche for people who want to visit Vail and stay in an upscale hotel, but don't want or need über-luxe accommodations. The hotel rooms here are comfortable and streamlined, and the suites' decor cranks the stay up a notch. The public rooms deliver the "wow" factor, and guests often gravitate to the gold-toned Library, where they can be seen reading books pulled off the shelves or playing backgammon. Leonora, a bistro and wine bar, and the Frost bar both deliver drinks and food as innovative as the rooms' decor. The Bloom Spa offers treatments incorporating its signature Alpenglow Scent (a lovely botanical-based fragrance that’s also used in the shampoo and conditioner in the rooms).
The Sebastian has a few perks that makes it stand out from other local hotels. Every room has unlimited complimentary bottled water and soft drinks, fruit and sweet and savory snacks. Hotel guests have free access to many magazines on their iPads using a code available in the guest rooms.
The Vail hotel's Battle Mountain Kids Camp keeps children ages 7 to 12 entertained, if the parents have adult-only plans. Indoor rock climbing, paddle surfing or kayaking, and cooking with chefs at local restaurants are some of the summertime activities. In the wintertime, snow tubing, bowling and other camp activities provide an alternative for kids who aren't spending the day on the ski slopes.
