OPUS Vancouver is definitely cutting edge - in 2012, it underwent a “technology renovation.” The result: a Virtual Concierge (in the form of an iPad) in every room loaded with popular apps, web links and itineraries with suggestions on where to shop, dine, visit and relax, with picks culled from 5 different virtual “personalities”. Fairmont Pacific Rim also goes above and beyond the usual WiFi and business centre. For guests, an in-room iPad 2 can customize the details of their stay from the thermostat to the delivery of room service. With a swipe of the finger, guests can make dinner reservations, request their car from the valet and book a massage. Once they are in the lobby bar or Oru Restaurant, the cocktail and wine list is presented on- what else - an iPad, complete with interactive food pairing recommendations. And with the ICE (Interactive Customer Experience) app available for download, guests can take advantage of this perk even before they arrive.
