Things to Know

  • The sun exposure at the pool is limited, but there is a grassy terrace on the other side of the Abu Dhabi hotel for those who wish to work on their tan.
  • Manor Club rooms are worth the upgrade, giving you access to the executive lounge, where you’ll find a great breakfast spread each morning, a pleasant evening cocktail hour as well as top-notch service. A stay in one of the hotel’s plush suites also gives you club access.
  • Stays here are high-tech, but the in-room iPad controls can be a little tricky, so it’s wise to ask for an overview of how to use it.

The Rooms

  • An iPad is used to control much of the room, from the blackout blinds that shield the bright morning sun to the enormous flat-screen TV.
  • The bathrooms are sumptuous in size, with separate stand-alone soaking tubs and rain showers, his-and-hers sinks and Roberto Cavalli products, all amid luxurious gray marble.
  • With dark natural materials such as wood paneling and stone accents, the guest rooms have a somewhat masculine, business-like look. However, the spaces are just as suited to leisure travelers thanks to plush comforts, such as floor-to-ceiling windows with great views and a bed fit for royalty.

The Look

  • New York-based Handel Architects and award-winning design firm HOK give the luxury hotel a sophisticated and sleek look; the lobby is striking with water features and multi-textured walls.
  • The pool area is exceptionally chic, with artificial islands of palm trees, abstract tree-shaped metal structures with Arabian mashrabiya-like embellishments shading the lounge area and a poolside bar, aptly named Glo, that lights up the terrace come nightfall.
  • Work by local artists is displayed throughout the spa. At the entrance, you’ll find a layered, iridescent coral-inspired piece that is particularly eye-catching.
