Tucked away at the base of a mountain, the Five-Star The Little Nell provides a perfect location either to hit the slopes or roam the streets in search of Aspen's latest fashions.

The guest rooms and junior suites (renovated in 2017 by Champalimaud Design) and the six luxury suites (redesigned in 2014 by star designer Holly Hunt) are heavenly cocoons with fireplaces, overstuffed furniture and luxurious bathrooms.

Some suites feature vaulted ceilings showcasing glorious mountainside views, while others overlook the charming former mining town. Enjoy the well-equipped gym, outdoor pool and hot tub.

While the hotel’s service is of the highest quality (the staff will know your name from the moment you check in), the attitude here is decidedly unpretentious.

The hotel’s unique Adventure Program offers experiential activities like fly fishing, off-road tours, snowcat powder skiing and more.
The Little Nell feels like a boutique hotel. The intimate vibe is apparent in the hotel’s lobby and cozy Living Room, where guests hang out, have a drink and chat about their day.
Because of the hotel’s unique shape, each room has its own layout and design. The custom touches — from original artwork to live plants to cozy, decorative pillows — lend a homey feel.
If the hotel’s 20,000-bottle wine collection overwhelms you, ask the wine director or one of the numerous other on-staff sommeliers — these specialists range from intro and certified to advanced — to suggest some pairings.

Things to Know

The Little Nell often sells out. This happens even more so during the holidays, so be sure to book in advance to guarantee availability and a variety of room options.
While the Aspen resort doesn't offer a full-service spa, it does feature a Health Center with luxuriously appointed locker rooms, showers and steam rooms. If you're craving a massage after a day on the slopes, services can be arranged in the comfort of your room or in one of the facility's three treatment rooms.
Famous for its pet-friendly Petiquette program, dogs are welcome in the lobby, Living Room and the pool and courtyard area, so you won't have to worry about finding a sitter for Fido.

The Rooms

There are 30 varieties of rooms, and all 92 have unique characteristics that lend a distinct residential feel to the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel.
The rooms offer a modern feel and feature muted tones of gray and beige.
The beds stand out with plush linens (think big down duvets and rows of oversize pillows) and unique, decorative pillows.
There are also large windows that offer nice views and plenty of natural light, as well as some kind of living area, whether it’s a couch and coffee table or large upholstered chairs.
All the rooms have marble bathrooms with heated floors and backlit vanities, plus a sunken tub and separate shower with thick towels and robes.

The Restaurants

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Element 47, is named for silver on the periodic table and offers a nod to Aspen’s rich silver-mining history.
The menu is sophisticated, yet approachable with seasonal appetizers, medium plates and entrées focusing on locally sourced produce, meat and game, as well as sustainable seafood.
The fine-dining restaurant’s wine collection is outstanding: 20,000 bottles are on hand for discerning diners.
The slope side Ajax Tavern draws huge lunch and après ski crowds with its accessible location, comfort food favorites (burgers, fries, mussels) and refreshing cocktails.
Ajax Tavern, which is open year-round, doesn’t only serve bar snacks; it also churns out highbrow fare featuring sustainable, Colorado-bred meat and local, seasonal produce. We adore the wagyu bolognese.
