The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta has a modern, bustling lobby bar, Lumen, and a smaller bar inside AG restaurant on the second floor. The latter is a tavern-style setup where patrons can go for a quick drink or to mingle while they wait on a dinner table. But if you’re looking for a contemporary setting to properly people watch or check out a big game, Lumen is the place to go. With its mirror-polished metal tables (custom-designed by Brad Oldham, brother of designer Todd Oldham), sheerly shrouded crystal chandeliers emitting a red glow, glimmering beaded corkscrew floor lamps and backlit menus, the place simply sparkles.
The actual bar menu is as vibrant as the scene. Three drinks on the menu — the pomegranate vodka-doused Sky Canvas, the blueberry and mango-pureed Evening Bonfire and the Stoli strawberry and sour apple-infused Seas of Europa — are named after contemporary pieces of art in the lobby, and a guitarist performs nightly. Visiting on a Thursday? Partake in the complimentary 5 p.m. wine tasting with sommelier Brian White.
