A quiet evening of cocktails at an upscale rooftop bar, Thai beers with locals at a late-night open-air restaurant, a visit to Patpong and other seedier parts of the city — you’ll find whatever type of nightlife scene you’re looking for in Bangkok.
Red Sky, located at the top of Centara Grand Hotel at CentralWorld, is our Forbes Travel Guide editors’ favorite rooftop bar in Bangkok, while The Iron Fairies on Thonglor is a hip spot to enjoy strong cocktails and live jazz music — and if you’re lucky a magician might stop by your table and perform a few tricks.
One of our absolute favorite nightlife experiences in Bangkok is an evening at Tawandang German Brewery, located just outside the city center on Rama III. It’s well worth the short cab ride to get there: The food is amazing, the live entertainment is some of the best in the city, and the house-brewed beers go down smoothly. Get there around 7:30 to score a good table and plan on staying until at least midnight or later.
If you want to hit the dance floor and hop from one club to the next, head to Royal City Avenue, or RCA, a huge entertainment district between Petchaburi Road and Rama IX roads that has restaurants, movie theaters, a bowling alley and tons of bars and clubs. Everybody has their personal favorite spot here, but ours is massive Route 66, which has four different sections playing different types of music.
