The room service menu offers something for travelers from both the east and west; in fact, that’s how it is divided at Mandarin Oriental, Boston. From the east, guests can order steamed pork dumplings, miso soup, or edamame that comes with a soy and sake dipping sauce to start. Larger plates on the eastern menu include the cold sesame soba noodles that come with charred shrimp and wakame seaweed. There is also a mixed grill plate that comes with lamb and chicken skewers.
The western portion of the menu has appetizers like clam chowder and freshly shucked local oysters and Caesar salad. More substantial dishes include a griddled grill cheese with Gruyère, cheddar, and choice of bacon and tomato, a Wagyu beef burger and a pasta Bolognese. For dessert, try the seasonal Vermont cheesecake or the New England apple pie.
