Amangiri

Utah's hidden desert paradise
VERIFIED LUXURY
Located in the Four Corners region—where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona meet — Amangiri is a stunner, and a destination in itself. Surrounded by soaring plateaus of sculpted sandstone and desert wilderness, the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star resort is for those who want a remote, quiet and naturally luxurious hotel experience.

Hidden away in a protected valley with panoramic views of the dramatic sand-colored landscape, Amangiri sits on 600 beautiful acres of the Southwest.

As one of two Aman Resorts in the United States, Amangiri is at the center of the Grand Circle, near attractions like the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and numerous national parks. And while the far-flung location may take some planning to visit, the beautiful desert scenery and unique setting are well worth the trip.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Tucked into a protected valley with sweeping views of the dramatic landscape, Amangiri is a hidden paradise within the desert.
  • The luxury hotel fits so well into its raw landscape that it’s hard to tell a difference between the cement buildings dyed to match the surrounding sandstone cliffs.
  • While the main pool is the resort’s visual focal point, the Aman Spa’s Water Pavilion has a rejuvenating outdoor heated step pool and a relaxing lounge.
  • Amangiri not only has hundreds of acres of natural beauty within the property but the resort is also located near the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Monument Valley’s iconic sandstone buttes, and Bryce Canyon National Park’s hoodoos.
Things to Know
  • Besides relaxing anywhere inside the hotel’s walls, Amangiri offers many outdoors activities, such as horseback riding, rock climbing, hot-air ballooning, helicopter flights and boating on Lake Powell.
  • You can even explore the sweeping sandstone vistas with an archaeologist or geologist to learn about the natural history of the Southwest region.
  • Traveling to the resort gives you a panoramic introduction to the desert. You'll arrive via a winding road that descends into the valley.
  • The nearest airport is the small one in Page, Arizona, a 25-minute drive to the resort. Car transfers are available from Phoenix, Flagstaff and Las Vegas.
  • A short drive from the property is self-contained retreat Camp Sarika by Amangiri. A common area offers a restaurant, lounge, pool, Jacuzzi and two spa suites. There’s also canvas-topped Tented Pavilions.
The Rooms
  • With just 34 rooms, the hotel delivers exceptional, personal service during your stay. The suites — and they’re all suites — are spread over two wings that branch off a pavilion, Amangiri’s main building.
  • In the Mesa Wing, you’ll find 18 suites and the Aman Spa, offering the best views for taking in the kaleidoscope sunsets. The Desert Wing, on the opposite side of the pavilion, has 16 suites that have views of the surrounding dunes and plateaus.
  • Each has its own courtyard or terrace, an optimal place to catch the desert sunset and bathrooms feature twin rain showers and soaking tubs with views of the surrounding landscape.
  • The pool suites, Desert or Mesa, each have a private plunge pool you can use to cool off from the desert heat, while the exclusive Amangiri Suite has an expansive private swimming pool and terrace lounge for the ultimate desert experience.
  • Camp Sarika features five one- and five two-bedroom Tented Pavilions, each with spacious sleeping and living areas, expansive terraces with fire pits and heated plunge pools.
The Look
  • The resort was designed to complement its rugged backdrop; the cement buildings were dyed to match the sandstone rock of the Utah plateaus.
  • Snuggled into a sunken courtyard, Amangiri’s main pool is bordered by a pavilion and a giant rock formation that seems to jut out into the pool.
  • Smooth stone fireplaces and rustic wooden lounge chairs create a seamless fusion between the hotel space and the beautiful desert surroundings.
  • Each of the 34 suites has white stone floors (which are heated in cooler months) and features sleek furnishings, including white sofas and timber cabinets.
