Located in the Four Corners region — where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona meet — this mountain retreat is a stunner, and a destination in itself. Tucked into a protected valley with sweeping views of the dramatic landscape, the resort was designed to complement its surroundings (cement buildings were dyed to match the rock). Arrive via a winding road that descends into the valley. The swimming pool is the focal point. Located right off the main pavilion, the pool was built around rock and includes king-sized day beds. Suites have white stone floors (which are heated in cooler months) and concrete walls, and sleek furnishing include white sofas and timber cabinets. Bathrooms feature twin rain showers and soaking tubs with views of the surrounding landscape. Pool suites boast a private plunge pool and a private sky terrace complete with a daybed. This being an Aman Resort (only its second in North America), activities are unique. Care to explore the area with an archaeologist or geologist? Simply let an Amangiri staff member know. Other activities include hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, hot-air ballooning, helicopter flights and boating on Lake Powell. Be sure to check out the Aman Spa, which features amenities, including the Water Pavilion, which has an outdoor heated step pool and a relaxing lounge.
