Twenty-Eight Atlantic

Cape Cod's charming dining room
VERIFIED LUXURY
With views of charming Pleasant Bay beyond its picture windows, the Five-Star Twenty-Eight Atlantic restaurant inside Cape Cod's Wequassettt Resort and Golf Club is an upscale spot in which to sample perfectly prepared New England cuisine.

The room's Shaker-style décor and nautically inspired artwork are an elegant setting for chef James Hackney's seafood-focused and seasonally crafted menu. Dig into dishes such as caramelized day boat scallops, caught fresh and served with mushroom ravioli and truffle cream sauce, or the signature "petite clam bake," a dressy take on the New England tradition with poached lobster, corn pudding and fresh asparagus.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • One of the things we enjoy most about Twenty-Eight Atlantic is its ability to introduce fine dining to patrons of all ages. It is a family-friendly restaurant, especially during breakfast, and has a full children’s menu for younger diners.
  • As you might expect from a fine-dining establishment on Cape Cod, Twenty-Eight Atlantic has a seafood-heavy menu. The focus is the fresh fish, from day boat scallops to lobster sourced in the cold waters off Coastal Maine.
  • The staff at Twenty-Eight Atlantic is responsible for this Cape Cod restaurant’s Five-Star rating. They’re friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating.
  • No matter what time you visit, you’ll always have a sweeping view of Pleasant Bay and see the restaurant’s beamed ceilings, grand fireplace, custom hand-blown chandeliers and tableside flowers.
  • During breakfast, Twenty-Eight Atlantic promotes a more casual feeling, thanks to the bright sunlight that beams through the floor-to-ceiling windows. In the evening, the restaurant turns a little more elegant, adding white tablecloths and votive candles to its tables to set a more romantic mood.
Things to Know
  • Twenty-Eight Atlantic is Wequassett Resort and Golf Club’s most formal dining venue, and it requests business causal attire when you dine there. Breakfast is much less formal than dinner, but you should still refrain from wearing your beachwear and flip-flops.
  • The classic Cape Cod eatery is open for breakfast and dinner in its Pleasant Bay setting.
  • Despite what it says on its website or OpenTable, we’ve been told from the resort itself that Twenty-Eight Atlantic is not open for lunch.
  • One thing to note: As the seasons change, so does the menu at Twenty-Eight Atlantic. You’ll always find fresh fish, herbs and vegetables on the menu; but depending on the time of year you’re there, the dishes might change to include heartier sides in the fall and summer vegetables during the spring and summer.
The Food
  • Get ready for a feast from the sea when you dine at Twenty-Eight Atlantic. Chef James Hackney’s focus on farm-to-table fare is apparent on the menu, which features items sourced directly from Pleasant Bay and around Cape Cod.
  • Appetizers include Pleasant Bay oysters, yellow fin tuna, and paella with littleneck clams, mussels and baby octopus.
  • The entrées here are a grand display of Atlantic halibut, grilled swordfish, striped bass and, of course, butter-braised lobster (a must-try when you’re on Cape Cod).
  • For those who prefer something a little meatier, the menu at Twenty-Eight Atlantic also includes roasted chicken, lamb loin and beef tenderloin.
The Drinks
  • Next to Twenty-Eight Atlantic at Wequassett Resort and Golf Club is Thoreau’s, where you’ll find some great specialty cocktails that take their cue from local vines and cranberry bogs.
  • The Cape Cod Cosmopolitan (Absolut Citrus, triple sec, sweet and sour mix and cranberry) is a lovely drink for those vacationing on the Cape and looking for a taste of the island’s famous cranberries.
  • For a serious taste of the area’s local crop, try the Cranberry Bogger, made from fresh cranberries, Triple 8 cranberry vodka and cranberry liquor.
  • Instead of dessert, try the Chocolate Covered Cherry (vanilla vodka, dark Godiva and a splash of cherry juice) or the Key Lime Martini (vanilla run, Midori, a splash of pineapple, cream and lime).
