Although none of the guest rooms and suites at Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago have terraces, there is an alternative: The Terrace at Trump. Located outside of Sixteen, the hotel’s Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant, this space feels hip and intimate. The alfresco bar seats up to 164 guests, who come to sip the sugar-rimmed Exotic Ginger (Belvedere, St-Germain, Cointreau, muddled ginger and white cranberry and lime juices) and gaze out at the cityscape and river. The 16th-floor lounge gives you a great close-up of the Wrigley Building’s clock tower.
The terrace features sleek, modern furniture and takes on a new theme when it opens for the summer season each May. When we visited, it was “Polynesian chic,” complete with bamboo bars mixing rum-infused cocktails and plates of seafood, curries and sushi. Try to swing by the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel's bar on Wednesday or Saturday, when you can relax at the bar and see Navy Pier’s fireworks show light up the night.
