If you’re going for a jog, we suggest skipping the busy streets of the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel’s Gold Coast neighborhood to run on the paved path parallel to the lake. It’s about a 10-minute walk to get there — ask the hotel concierge for directions. You can also head up to Lincoln Park, about a five-minute cab ride from the luxury hotel, for a leisurely jog through the large, picturesque park.
Yes, access is via a pedestrian tunnel that's located three blocks from Waldorf Astoria Chicago at the corner of Lake Shore Drive East and Michigan Avenue in the park across the street from the Chanel Boutique. There is no better way to see Chicago's lakefront than along the Lakefront Trail. Running from Hollywood Avenue on the north end to 71st Street on the south end, Chicago's 18-mile paved Lakefront Trail is an ideal place to bike, run, skate and walk, for both active recreation and pure enjoyment. Featured along the trail are parks, beaches, gardens, statues and amenities like washrooms, parking lots, drinking fountains and concession stands.
