The location of Waldorf Astoria Chicago is so ideal that you can get around the city with ease, with or without the help of a taxi driver. Chicago’s famed elevated train system, known as the El, reaches the far corners of the city and has stations near the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel. The CTA Red Line is the closest; walk south on State Street to Chicago Avenue to hop on the Red Line, which runs north to south through the city.
Several buses also run north to south through this stretch. The 36 bus on State Street and the 22 bus on Clark Street can both take you downtown to the Loop, or uptown to Lincoln Park within 20 minutes in either direction. If you want to experience the city’s vibrant Bucktown and Wicker Park neighborhoods, you have a few options: You can take the Red Line south to the Jackson stop and transfer to the Blue Line toward O’Hare, or, you can hop on the 70 bus heading west on Division Street.
