Alinea isn’t a kid-friendly dining destination, since its elaborate 22-course dinner generally lasts between three and four hours. The lengthy experience isn’t suitable for babies or squirmy young children. If you have a budding foodie, the Chicago restaurant does not have a separate kids' menu, but the chef can adjust the length of the menu for your child. However, Alinea’s menu is French-inspired and quite adult with unusual takes on dishes; you’ll find rich courses with acquired tastes such as rabbit, venison, lamb, truffle and roe that may not appeal to a child’s palate. You won’t find chicken fingers or macaroni and cheese at this avant-garde Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant.
