To reach the entrance of the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star The Peninsula Spa Chicago, you’ll walk through the cream-colored lobby of The Peninsula Chicago. Take the elevator to the 20th floor and you’ll be whisked up to the spa, where it’s quite a different mood. The lights go way down and you’ll be greeted by warm honey-colored wood paneling of the kind that makes you feel like you just stepped into a large sauna. The reception desk is straight ahead, simply adorned with a plant or flowers and a tray holding bright green apples. There’s not much to this area — just the desk, a small seating area with a striped couch that could seat about three people. You’ll notice the gym to the left. Products are also on display to the left of the reception desk. You’ll be there for only a few minutes while you fill out a quick form. A staff member will then escort you down the winding staircase past the small lily pond to the locker rooms.
