Channeling Miami Beach, The Broadmoor’s main pool area is bedecked with purple-cushioned patio furniture, an awning-lined café and draped cabanas that glisten in hues of buttercup-yellow and lilac.
The most notable color, however, is turquoise, the color of the water in the sparkling infinity pool, graduated along its zero-entry rim from the deck to a depth of five feet, where it appears to drop off magically into Cheyenne Lake. (Of course, there’s a protective railing to ensure swimmers don’t backstroke right over the edge.) The basin is flanked by a wading pool for tots, two hot tubs and — perhaps best of all — Slide Mountain, boasting not one but two two-story waterslides. (Note that there is a height limit of 44 inches.)
The main pool area at this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel is open from Memorial Day until the weather turns, which may be as late as October thanks to Colorado’s lengthy Indian summers. Year-round, the Spa at The Broadmoor features an indoor pool in its atrium as well as a heated, two-lane lap pool and yet another hot tub on its terrace, overlooking the East and West golf courses.
