Even hydrophobes could spend all day at The Broadmoor’s main pool area, adjacent to Cheyenne Lake at the center of the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star resort’s beautifully manicured lawn.
The Main Pool (summer seasonal) features a walk-in (aka: Zero Entry) that makes it feel like a beach with a shallow area perfect for moms and tots. There’s also a kiddie pool perfect for really young ones, complete with water sprays. Then there’s a mountain of fun for kids taller than 43 inches (including those “young at heart” adults). Slide Mountain has one slide that goes straight down into its own pool, while another slide takes a gentler turn, meandering around to a decidedly less splashy entry. There are also two 14-person hot tubs on either side of the pool that overlook the lake.
Soak up some rays as you stretch out on a plush chaise lounge, or retreat to the shade of a drape-lined private cabana, available for rent by the half- or full-day; the Grand Cabana is a veritable living room, with a TV, sound system and Internet access.
When you get hungry, the alfresco café serves salads, sandwiches, smoothies and even cocktails; and when you get antsy, both bicycles and paddleboats, a canoe and beautiful canopied electric boats are available from the pool attendants so you can kick back on the lake among the swans. While all this activity is in full force, you can safely stash your belongings in the lockers that line the restroom facilities.
The main pool (outdoors — summer seasonal) has large restroom facilities with available lockers. There is a full service bar, a pool café with the option of sit-down patio and lounge side service, and a sundries counter with goggles, sunscreen and pool toys available for purchase. Water stations are located around the pool. There are cushioned lounge chairs and side tables. Cabanas are available for half days and full days (advance reservations recommended). One grand cabana has Internet connectivity, music and TV available. There is a children’s wading pool with a water feature, and two 14-person hot tubs overlooking the lake. “Slide Mountain” has two waterslides in their own pool with swim-through access to the main pool. Three different kinds of boats are also available for cruising the lake. The spa pool is housed indoors in the spa and golf club building. There are lounge chairs, side tables and kickboards. There is an outdoor, year-round lap pool, large whirlpool, outdoor lounge chairs and tables. Locker facilities are located adjacent to the indoor pool and service both the pool and the spa fitness center. Within the fitness center, there is a retail area for swim accessories and workout clothing. The spa café is open except for the winter months.
