Geneva's beauty secret
5 Treatment Rooms
On the grand first floor of Hotel President Wilson, A Luxury Collection Hotel sits Spa La Mer, a luxurious retreat that features La Mer products in each and every treatment. La Mer is noted worldwide for its restorative and hydrating benefits derived from kelp harvested off Vancouver, as well as algae and pulverized quartz stones. Adjacent to the spa, there is a state-of-the-art fitness center, a stunning outdoor pool and a sleek hair salon — all where you can while the day away in relative tranquility.
The Geneva spa features a mix of soft white tones and muted amber lighting with natural wood accents. While unwinding in the relaxation room prior to a treatment, you may order room service, sip on tea or nosh on fruit. There are five treatment rooms, including one couple’s room with its own steam bath and sauna. A steam room, Jacuzzi and sauna are all available for those not booking the room for two — these simple, chic spaces are dominated by white tile accented with Greco-Roman mosaic tiles. The treatment rooms are an intimate all-white affair and are uncluttered and clean. The elegant design of the luxury spa relies on simple lines and natural overhead light; hushed corridors and massage rooms feel quite comfortable in spite of their smaller size.
Treatments typically (and delightfully) begin with a therapeutic foot massage. There is a standard menu of services, including facials, manicures, pedicures and various massages including deep tissue, and hot stone as well as those using the vibrations of tuning forks (said to keep your mind and body in balance). The real treat, of course, is the use of the luxe La Mer products. For those who haven’t splurged on a full bottle of Crème de la Mer, a facial using the rich, luxurious cream is a perfect introduction to the brand.
There are indulgent all-day packages designed to lull you into a state of complete relaxation, but there’s also a quick and efficient 30-minute anti-jetlag massage geared toward any frequent flyer who may need a quick boost of energy. A large, friendly hair salon offers cuts and styling, as well as men’s shaves and children’s services.
The fitness center provides 24-hour access to guests, which is unusual for most Geneva hotels. The space maximizes natural light with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the outdoor terrace and swimming pool. Inside, there is a collection of TechnoGym equipment, including treadmills, elliptical bikes, rowing machines and a variety of free weights.
The large outdoor sundeck is home to the pool (heated to a constant and comfortable 82.4 degrees), which offers the type of unencumbered views that make it seem as if you can swim directly out and into Lake Geneva. The pool is closed in winter, however the terrace and its comfy, stylish seating options remain open in the winter with a glass cover overhead. The Pool Bar, available during the summer, features cocktails, light fare and some seriously refreshing sorbets.
