A Geneva spa with coveted treatments
5 Treatment Rooms
Spa La Mer prides itself on being the first Geneva spa to offer coveted La Mer products — including the Crème de la Mer moisturizer with a cult following — in all its treatments. In case you’re not familiar with the ultra-luxe beauty brand, you should know it is regarded worldwide for its restorative and hydrating properties that come from kelp harvested off of Vancouver, as well as algae and pulverized quartz.
A mix of soft white tones and muted amber lighting with natural wood accents, the spa inside Hotel President Wilson, A Luxury Collection Hotel has a 4,306-square-foot wellness space to get lost in, a state-of-the-art fitness room and a stunning outdoor pool — the spacious facilities actually make up the entire first floor of the property.
While loosening up in the relaxation room prior to your treatment, sip on tea, nosh on fruit or even order from the room service menu. Then make time to visit the steam room, Jacuzzi and sauna, which are covered with white tiles and Greco-Roman mosaic accents.
There are five treatment rooms, including one couple’s room with its own steam bath and sauna. Bathed in white and wood, the treatment rooms are small and intimate. The rest of the luxury spa is composed of modernist simple lines and design. Natural overhead light filters in, but the hushed corridors and rooms feel quite comfortable.
Treatments typically begin with a therapeutic foot massage, an initial way to relax before the service begins. One standout detail is the use of tuning fork vibrations — said to harmonize mind and body — during each and every treatment.
Given the spa’s use of luxurious La Mer products, it shouldn’t be a surprise that facials are the specialty. For a deep cleaning, try the Purifying Facial. Steam digs deep into your pores, diamond powder gently exfoliates and drainage techniques and an acupressure massage spur circulation. The most indulgent is the Miracle Broth Facial, which triggers pressure points to reduce the look of fine lines plus ample amounts of the famous Miracle Broth product to hydrate skin.
The Geneva spa also offers a menu of massages, including deep tissue, lymphatic drainage and hot stone. If you just flew into the city and find yourself waning, the 30-minute anti-jetlag massage will inject you with a quick boost of energy.
Among the body treatments, opt for the Ultimate Experience. The head-to-toe service includes a massage tailored to your needs and a facial with a skin-softening rub that uses marine quartz and diamond powder to prep your face to soak up Crème de la Mer.
There is also a large, inviting salon for cuts, styling, manicures, pedicures and men’s shaves. Children are welcome here.
The Gym and Pool
The fitness room is open 24 hours, something unusual for most Geneva hotels, and maximizes natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the terrace and swimming pool. Inside the mirror-walled space, you’ll find TechnoGym treadmills, elliptical bikes, rowing machines and a variety of free weights.
If you’re staying at the hotel, take advantage of the outdoor sun deck and heated pool, which looks out onto Lake Geneva. The way to score pool entry as a spa guest is to spring for a package like the La Mer Day Spa, which gives you fruit and green tea, a body treatment, a facial, a manicure, a blow-dry or foot treatment, a three-course lunch and unlimited pool time.
