The Peninsula Hong Kong has been hosting grand weddings since it opened more than 80 years ago. The Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel remains one of the choicest and most prestigious nuptial sites in the city. As such, the hotel hosts a lot of weddings, practically every weekend.
Fortunately, The Peninsula Hong Kong has options to suit pretty much every size and style of event. Ceremony and reception venue options include a terrace, formal ballroom, or one of the hotel’s many and very different restaurants. (Weddings for as many as 560 people are a Peninsula specialty.) The most traditional choice is the grand Salisbury Room (measuring more than 2,000 square feet) with mirrored walls, opulent chandeliers and a gilded appearance. Two smaller adjoining rooms, the Nathan Room and Golden Pen, are often added and used for cocktails or reception areas. Smaller, more intimate-minded weddings can choose the Garden Suite with its private outdoor patio — also quite opulent but made for smaller parties up to 50 people. For a real change of pace, the Art Deco and stainless steel-clad California Clipper lounge is a unique choice. Usually devoted to pre- and post-helicopter flights, it is an aeronautical themed lounge reflecting the Golden Age of early aviation, with floor-to-ceiling windows featuring expansive views of Hong Kong Island and Victoria Harbour.
