The Peninsula Spa Hong Kong

Hong Kong's center of calm
VERIFIED LUXURY

The Peninsula Spa Hong Kong is one of the most lavish places in the city to indulge in some well-deserved pampering. Set on the seventh floor of the grand colonial-era hotel, the 12,000-square-foot spa sits in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui but feels far removed from the frenetic neighborhood.

The welcome lounge features soft shades of beige alongside granite details and feng shui elements, such as a lush bamboo forest weaving nature into the space. While your therapist conducts an in-depth personal consultation, you'll relax with cool hand towels and a warm cup of ginger-honey tea.

Once checked in, you’ll be escorted across the hall to the changing room before heading upstairs to explore the spa’s wonderland of heat and water treatment facilities in the Thermal Suite. You’ll want to arrive early to relax and unwind before your therapy begins in one of the 14 soundproof treatment rooms.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The two-story spa is home to 14 spacious treatment rooms that each promise stunning views of the Hong Kong skyline, alongside plush treatment beds, candles and cozy wood decor.
  • The most luxurious suite includes a private Jacuzzi, ideal for couples and special occasions.
  • The water and heat treatment facilities in the Thermal Suite are breathtaking — think hammam-style steam rooms, aromatherapy showers, infrared ice fountains and a sauna overlooking famous Victoria Harbour.
  • After your treatment, you’ll be escorted to a relaxation tea lounge where you’ll find comfy lounge chairs, blankets, dried fruits, teas and more skyline views.
  • The spa is known for its results-oriented facials and traditional Chinese-style massages, so we’d recommend you try both.
  • You’ll love the thoughtful little details, from the Egyptian cotton Frette robes to the automated Clodagh Gemini massage beds.

Things to Know

  • You are encouraged to arrive an hour before your treatment to enjoy the relaxation facilities, and we’d highly recommend you make the most of this precious time.
  • This is a sought-after address, so ensure you book at least a week in advance if you hope to snag a weekend appointment.
  • Weekdays are much quieter and, if you time it right, you just might have the whole relaxation zone to yourself.
  • Craving something other than ginger tea? The spa also offersThe Peninsula’s own organic blend upon request.

The Treatments

  • The Hong Kong spa provides a mix of traditional Chinese therapies and cutting-edge treatments, such as the indulgent 100-minute Margy’s Ultimate Radiance Aesthetic Facial. The service harnesses the power of Margy’s anti-aging products, which have a cult following among European VIPs for a reason.
  • The spa’s ESPA product range emphasizes natural ingredients and is used for the majority of massages, including the signature Peninsula Time treatment. Completely bespoke, the two-hour experience could combine a mix of zone-specific massages, facials, acupressure and foot massages to accommodate whatever you need on the day.
  • After a few days of high-end cuisine, we might suggest a treatment from the Body Contour Collection. The 30-minute Vanquish Reshape & Contour treatment provides a non-invasive solution that harnesses acoustic waves to reduce cellulite, lift saggy muscle tone and boost collagen production for a smoother silhouette.
  • The spa is a haven for gents as well as women, thanks to dedicated treatments such as the Purifying Facial for Men. This deep-cleansing ritual will leave skin feeling hydrated and supple, before topping it all off with a stress-busting shoulder, neck and head massage.

The Facilities

  • Henry Leung of Chhada Siembieda Leung designed the spa to combine traditional Chinese elements, sculptures, video installations and floral artwork. The elevator, for example, features an animated installation titled Breathing Wall by Colombian artist Monika Bravo.
  • The journey begins in the welcome lounge, which feels like a luxurious Chinese residence. As you’re escorted deeper into the spa, relaxing water features and stone gardens create a smooth transition into the world of wellness.
  • The two-story wellness center is also home to a 59-foot indoor pool surrounded by glamorous Roman columns and reliefs, as well as an outdoor sun deck with ever-coveted harbor views.
  • The state-of-the-art fitness studio comes equipped with Life Fitness cardio machines, free weights and personal training services should you need some extra motivation. Post-workout, unwind in the whirlpool, cold plunge pool, sauna and steam rooms found in the men’s and women’s locker rooms.
