The lobby, while surprisingly contemporary and bright, offers a strong sense of place. A philosophy of environmental protection and sustainability is at the heart of Saadiyat Island — an ethos reinforced by slender gazelle sculptures inspired by the indigenous wildlife that moves about freely on the island. Beautiful handmade carpets hang on the walls and an exhibit showcases sand from each of the UAE’s seven emirates.

From a sea-view pool to a nearly 1,000-foot white sand beach dotted with loungers and two volleyball courts, there are plenty of ways to soak up the sun at this island hotel.
