Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Built into a promontory east of Positano, Il San Pietro di Positano’s tucked-away setting is a real highlight. The design is one with the natural environment, surrounded by terraces of Mediterranean gardens.
  • The hotel’s dedicated team ensures the height of privacy for guests, which makes this a top choice for celebrities (like George Clooney and Julia Roberts) and VIP travelers looking to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty of the Amalfi Coast without crowds.
  • A unique semicircular swimming pool surrounded by sun beds affords panoramic views of the coastline toward Praiano. To get closer to the sea, take the quick elevator to reach the private beach club.
  • Il San Pietro di Positano’s lovely spa specializes in treatments featuring Swiss skincare brand La Prairie. For pure indulgence, enjoy a platinum-infused facial or a caviar-enhanced full-body massage.
  • Il San Pietro is one of the only Positano hotels to have a private beach club with direct sea access. Relax on the solarium built into the rocky cliff or partake in waterfront dining at Carlino restaurant.

Things to Know

  • Keep in mind that Il San Pietro is east of Positano. While you’ll need transportation to reach town (the property provides a free shuttle service), the hotel’s secluded locale gives it a stunning view of the city in the distance.
  • Stay active during your getaway with a workout at the fitness center, a complimentary yoga class just steps from the water or a game of tennis at seaside court.
  • From June to September, the luxury hotel offers a complimentary two-hour cruise along the coast. For more privacy, reserve Il San Pietro’s Morgan 44 yacht Joey, which is available for private charters along the coastline or to Capri and other destinations in the Gulf of Naples.
  • ll San Pietro is open from early April to October.
  • In 2016, the hotel unveiled a new state-of-the-art kitchen excavated into the mountain. The kitchen has won accolades for its environmental focus, including energy-saving, computer-controlled electronic appliances and an ozone sanitization system.

The Rooms

  • Each of the 56 rooms at Il San Pietro di Positano features a design that melds simple luxury and attention to detail. Expect clean lines, a carefully curated use of Mediterranean colors and an incredible view always front and center.
  • All rooms include a terrace overlooking the water, so you can’t go wrong with your choice.
  • Design lovers will be particularly fond of the contemporary Signature and Prestige Rooms, which were gorgeously imagined by noted Italian interior designer Fausta Gaetani. They have breezy colors, bronze accents and clean, white spaces that let those Amalfi Coast vistas shine.
  • Il San Pietro’s art collection is on display throughout the hotel and nicely incorporated into room décor. Look out for local touches like custom terra-cotta tiles and antique-inspired ceramics.

The Restaurants

  • Il San Pietro’s acclaimed restaurant Zass is a firm fixture on the Amalfi Coast fine-dining scene. Chef Alois Vanlangenaeker has a fresh approach to creating harmonious dishes inspired by local traditions.
  • Near the sea at the beach club, Carlino does causal alfresco dining exclusively for guests of the Amalfi Coast hotel. Ingredients are sourced from the property’s garden to create light, local specialties like lemon spaghetti.
  • The luxury hotel’s organic gardens are set on 10 terraces carved into the cliffs where fruits, vegetables and herbs used in both restaurants are grown. The flowers on display throughout the property are also grown onsite.
