The St. Regis Bali Resort

Bali’s timeless beauty
VERIFIED LUXURY
Approaching the entrance of The St. Regis Bali Resort feels a bit like entering a rainforest in a dream — dramatic mist and lush green foliage will surround your vehicle. A night arrival is spectacular as blue lights illuminate the path to the beachside resort.

True to the St. Regis brand, this luxury resort exudes understated elegance, with elements of the local culture incorporated seamlessly into the design. This includes Javanese shadow puppets, intricate woodcarvings, and geometric patterns representing the Balinese Hindu offering canang that can be found everywhere from the carpets to the elevators to the centerpiece of the grand staircase. The fact that the resort has not undergone any major renovations since opening in 2009 is a testament to its timeless beauty.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Iridium Spa is a sanctuary for renewal with a butterfly theme that runs throughout. Koi ponds surround the eight private treatment rooms, including two exquisite couples suites.
  • A Finnish sauna, an aromatherapy steam room with daily changing scents, a beauty salon and a fitness center (with separate yoga room) are also found within the spa.
  • The beachfront resort is nestled in the prestigious Nusa Dua enclave. Well-manicured pathways wind around decorative fountains and throughout the complex, which has its own shopping center selling everything from curated local crafts to food.
  • The Bali resort boasts four distinct dining options, all offering gorgeous island views alongside a delicious array of cuisine ranging from local Indonesian fare to an international buffet.
Things to Know
  • The gym is officially open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. but overnight guests can gain access at any hour by requesting assistance from a butler.
  • No matter which accommodation you choose, you’ll enjoy the services of a 24-hour butler.
  • The newly built Bali Mandara toll road — stretching over the Gulf of Benoa — provides quick and easy access to several popular areas in south Bali.
The Rooms
  • The 81 suites and 42 villas are sprawled across almost 20 acres of land and connected by inviting garden pathways dotted with hidden gazebos.
  • Exquisite design (tropical hardwood floors, vibrant art) and ample space can be found in the suites and villas alike, but it is the latter that really steal the show.
  • Particularly enchanting are the villas’ delicate crystal chandeliers and the gorgeous elevated cabanas at the edges of private plunge pools.
  • From the Lagoon Villa you can access the resort’s 40,000-square-foot salt lagoon pool directly from the terrace, while from the Strand Villas you can take in unobstructed views of the Indian Ocean and pristine white sands.
The Restaurants
  • The Bali hotel has four dining venues; the most notable is Kayuputi. It is here that premium Asian-inspired cuisine is prepared with Western cooking techniques.
  • Consult with the sommelier for the best pairings and steal glimpses of the executive sous chef and his team at work in the sleek open kitchen.
  • Dulang’s menu is inspired by the very best of Balinese cuisine from all around the vast archipelago, served on a dulang, or Royal Plate.
  • The King Cole Bar is also a must-visit. Sample its elaborate afternoon tea service or visit later in the evening to watch a fire dance with a Bali Mary in hand — it’s the signature St. Regis Bloody Mary cocktail made with a local twist of jicama, cucumber and brown sugar.
