The Fitzwilliam Hotel Dublin
Dublin's contemporary, city-center hotel
VERIFIED LUXURY
Here are five things to know about us:
1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
3. Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
4. While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
5. We started in1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.

From the eggplant top hats and tails of the doormen to the Tomas Clement diptych portraits in the lobby, arriving at The Fitzwilliam Hotel Dublin is every bit the modern-day castle experience it was designed to be. The hotel is stylish and sophisticated at every turn, with charming, impeccably turned-out staff, offering all of the bravado of a boutique hotel without any of the buzzy background noise. There’s a sense of serenity found here that is a rare find in the city, probably thanks to the hotel’s no-tour-groups policy and the balance of business and leisure guests.
The Citron restaurant offers a casual forkful, while Inn on the Green on the ground-floor serves hearty bar food and an exceptional afternoon tea. In addition to the fully equipped fitness suite, the Spirit Beauty Salon offers therapies from massages and facials to beauty treatments.

Our Inspector's Highlights
- The location is key, sitting at the top of Grafton Street, Dublin’s shopping district, and overlooking the treetops of St. Stephen’s Green to the front, and its own private courtyard to the back. Many of the city’s best sites are within walking distance.
- A selection of free, downloadable podcasts specially commissioned by the Dublin hotel offer a unique insight into the city, perfect for a do-it-yourself whistle-stop tour of the nearby hot spots.
- Fluffy robes and slippers, Murdock toiletries and a full-sized hairdryer are the little extras that pack a punch. Plus, the speediest Wi-Fi in the city comes standard (and it’s free).
- The Superior guest rooms come with a private terrace and are worth the splurge — views are of either St. Stephen’s Green or the inner courtyard garden.
Things to Know
- The hotel has a sister property in Belfast.
- A new dining experience is to be unveiled in 2017.
- The luxury hotel is about to undergo a refurbishment with additional rooms in autumn 2017 under the discerning direction of Sir Terence Conran, who is responsible for the hotel’s initial design.
- A day room is available to guests who arrive before their expected check-in time.
- The LUAS line, which connects the city center to the south quarter and much of Dublin’s business parks, stops right outside the front door.
The Rooms
- There are 139 rooms and six room categories: Executive, Signature, Superior, Deluxe, Deluxe Premium and, of course, a luxe Penthouse. Rooms start at 237 square feet.
- Most rooms are punctuated with bright, bold colors and patterns set against a neutral backdrop. Special extras include upholstered window seats, newly renovated bathrooms and turndown service.
- Accommodations come with duck-down duvets and pillows, but if you would prefer synthetic, just ask.
- Request a front-facing room overlooking the city or opt for a courtyard-facing view, which makes for a more serene stay.
The Restaurants
- While the former fine-dining restaurant is being re-imagined in 2017, there are two other dining options to choose from at The Fitzwilliam.
- Citron is the hotel’s all-day dining experience on the mezzanine level, but it’s far from casual fare. Head chef Paul Devoy uses top local ingredients to plate sumptuous, unfussy breakfast lunch and dinner. The breakfast here is sublime, and makes opting for a bed-and-breakfast special well worth it.
- For cocktails, afternoon tea and posh pub grub, hit up Inn On The Green on the ground floor. The Jerusalem artichoke and beetroot salad and chicken wings are firm favorites here.
