Park Lane New York

A whimsical retreat on NYC’s Billionaires’ Row
VERIFIED LUXURY

Claiming a coveted Central Park South location, Park Lane New York is a sanctuary nestled among some of the world’s most exclusive buildings. Once famed hotelier Harry Helmsley’s mid-century crown jewel, the revamped hotel is the Big Apple’s newest landmark, offering panoramic views of the park and endless possibilities for exploring by foot the world-class entertainment, fine dining, upscale shopping and popular attractions nearby.

The surroundings helped inspire the décor. International design firm Yabu Pushelberg has meticulously placed touches of Manhattan’s defining highlights throughout, using Central Park, Grand Central Station and the iconic Bemelmans Bar to guide its motifs while carefully restoring many of the classic architectural details from the historic building. The 47-story property, with 611 rooms also offers plush areas for sitting, Le Labo Hinoki amenities and Bellino linens, making it both spacious and richly adorned.

Park Lane New York partnered with Sartiano Group, the firm behind several noted downtown hot spots — including the members-only Zero Bond — to establish itself as a go-to dining and drinking destination with its three restaurants and bars.

The result is an inviting, luxurious retreat that feels like part of the city that surrounds it.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Sitting between Fifth and Sixth avenues, the luxury hotel is across from the southeast corner of Central Park. It’s also close to Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Fifth Avenue shopping and the Museum of Modern Art.
  • Park Lane New York offers several types of suites, with its top choice being the Belvedere, a two-bedroom penthouse nestled on top of a 45-story precipice. Spacious at 1,750 square feet, the suite affords unobstructed and soaring views of the park, with timeless touches inside.
  • The hotel’s most dramatic space is Darling, Central Park South’s only roof-top lounge atop the 47th floor. Darling is a swank cocktail bar that offers more than just views from the George Washington Bridge on one side to the East River on the other, with pre-planned events, a wide selection of wines and even seafood towers in the mix.
  • Rose Lane, the 80-seat lobby bar with its own terrace, is a Parisian art nouveau-inspired space that provides quiet spots for a drink and conversation. In the morning, it serves grab-and-go breakfasts like muffins and croissants or a bacon, egg and cheddar sandwich on brioche.

The Rooms

  • Rooms feature custom murals by NYC artists En Viu in a series called “A Carnival of Animals in Strawberry Fields,” referring in part to the iconic John Lennon memorial just blocks away while paying homage to the animals, trees and skyline found there. The collective’s hand-painted artworks string a whimsical narrative throughout the New York City hotel.
  • Nearly half of the accommodations have sweeping views of Central Park.
  • Bathrooms adopt a bold look with black-and-white striped subway tile walls and black-and-white marble sinks.
