Raffles Seychelles

A personal paradise overlooking the Indian Ocean
VERIFIED LUXURY

Located on the island of Praslin, Raffles Seychelles takes the natural beauty of island life and combines it with an elegant luxury befitting anyone seeking a break from the daily lull. With wide, open rooms overlooking the water and lush vegetation, you can dine on sushi on the beach, lounge on a private sun deck and plot adventures into the wilds of this island and the other 114 that make up the Seychelles.

With the Indian Ocean surrounding the luxury resort, each villa exudes a modern coastal ambiance. The accommodations feature pools tucked into the dense greenery of Praslin, which gives the feeling of isolation with the solace of good service and fine dining just minutes away. Further relaxation at the Raffles Spa, located off the palm-lined Anse Takamaka, can be had in one of the 12 treatment rooms, in the gym, outdoor swimming pool or Jacuzzi.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • With so many ways to bathe in the villas of this island property, it's hard to choose between showering inside, taking advantage of the private outdoor rain shower or dipping into the large soaking tub with a visage of nature and the marvelous granite rock formations.
  • No matter what treatment room you get at the Raffles Spa, they all feature a stellar view, which can also be taken in while swimming in the communal outdoor pool.
  • Though the white-sand beaches in Praslin excel, a short ferry ride or small plane trip can bring you to many UNESCO sites and other popular stretches of sand. Talk to the concierge to book one of these unique side trips.
  • Every villa in the Raffles Seychelles comes with a private plunge pool overlooking the ocean and natural wonders.
  • Don't miss the superb seafood. So much of the fish served at this island resort's restaurants comes right from the Indian Ocean.

Things to Know

  • Pack your yoga gear because each room at this island hotel comes equipped with a yoga mat, which is perfect for doing some asanas on the large, private terrace.
  • Raffles Seychelles offers 24-hour butler service.
  • Most of the villas here run 1,345 square feet, but if you want a larger space, book the one-bedroom panoramic villa that offers 2,153 square feet of luxury at the top of the resort. This opulent stay comes with a parlor, kitchen area, separate bedroom and the best view.

The Rooms

  • Each room is actually a private villa built into the island's bright forest. All of the accommodations face out, with some looking toward the Indian Ocean. Others have partial water views. There’s also a selection that features the lush vegetation and beautiful granite boulders that populate the island.
  • Expect tons of natural light to fill the bedroom, illuminating the white linens, cream-colored walls and subtle browns, blues and greens of the furnishings.
  • Most units in the luxury hotel have open floor plans without distinct living and eating places, though you can book an elite suite for more walls and space.

The Restaurants

  • The Seychelles hotel offers four stand-alone restaurants and bars as well as private dining.
  • The Sushi Room at Curieuse serves fresh-caught fare, omakase-style. Each chef-selected piece comes from one of the many fishing companies working the Seychelles, making for an unforgettable meal that would be hard to replicate anywhere else.
  • Eat breakfast at the Losean Restaurant and then go back for dinner, when the menu is highlighted by items inspired by the Indian Ocean — fresh yellowfin tuna tartare; the millionaire salad with smoked marlin, tropical fruits and palm heart; and the whole rock lobster with coconut rice and papaya chutney.
  • Chef de cuisine Abhay Pratap runs the chic restaurant Curieuse, touted as being the only Asian eatery in all of Seychelles. Expect to sample modern dishes, ranging from Indian and Chinese to Southeast Asian.
