Whether you’re in the mood to select from an expansive, thoughtfully curated wine list or sample outstanding brews from an awe-inspiring craft beer list, The American Club has a bar that’ll quench your thirst. The casual, pub-style Horse & Plow and the wine-and-cheese focused Winery Bar, are both housed within The American Club.
The Horse & Plow, which once served the beer needs of Kohler workers, now serves up casual pub fare with a twist alongside a solid selection of microbrews and notable European imports. Have a seat at one of the tables — their worn wooden tops were repurposed from the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel's original bowling alley — and give the Jigger Ale a try: It’s brewed exclusively for the resort’s sister hotel in St. Andrews, Scotland. Live bands play the bar about once per month.
Just the other side of the building, meanwhile, wine and cheese prevail at the Winery Bar. The underground tavern offers a choice of close to 400 different wines that can be paired with selections from the dozens of artisanal fromages — many from small farms in Wisconsin — that are available in the bar’s Cheese Room. The Winery Bar also serves select entrees from the adjacent The Immigrant Restaurant.
