Chef Matthew Bauer may be young, but his passion for cooking and local ingredients transcends his years. While Bauer is newer to his post, he has a respected history of service in Kohler, Wisconsin. During high school, he worked as a server at the nearby Cucina Restaurant (operated by The American Club), where he became inspired to continue his education in the culinary arts in San Francisco. After a stint in Hawaii, Bauer returned to Wisconsin, where he has played a prominent role in the kitchen of the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Immigrant Restaurant for over seven years. With a love for the rich natural flavors produced by Wisconsin’s farms, orchards and pastures, as well as the creativity to embrace and fuse international elements, Bauer was promoted to the helm of The Immigrant Restaurant kitchen, where he’s currently experimenting with new tasting menus and an overhaul to the à la carte offerings.
