A countryside getaway in Pennsylvania

27 Rooms / 35 Suites

Just minutes from the heart of Amish country lies The Inn at Leola Village, a former 1800s tobacco farm that now comprises a range of accommodations in a village-like setting spread over several buildings. Despite being in the Pennsylvania countryside, though, guests will feel like they have been transported to Italy, thanks to the opulent, Tuscan-style room furnishings and the restaurants Osteria Avanti and Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star TÈ Restaurant. The latter, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, serves excellent five- and nine-course tasting menus of upscale, inventive Italian cuisine (think chilled eel on squid ink pasta and Limoncello-braised baby octopus) every Friday and Saturday night in a truly intimate setting with only five tables.

Interestingly, imagery of flying pigs can be found everywhere at the resort. Although it seems silly on first glance, the motif actually refers to when owner John Calabrese and his wife first dreamed of opening a fine dining restaurant in Leola, a good friend of theirs replied, “Sure, when pigs fly.” Once the dream was realized, they decided to fully embrace the pig imagery!

The Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel is a popular spot for couples’ getaways (beds are topped with cheeky pillows that say “tonight” on one side and “not tonight” on the other) and the double Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom is quite befitting. It’s no wonder that the hotel is also a popular spot for weddings thanks to its romantic ambiance and magical history.
