With distinctive art deco styling, 45 Park Lane is a breath of fresh air in London’s posh Mayfair neighborhood. Sister to the storied The Dorchester just across the street, 45 Park Lane overlooks the leafy treetops of Hyde Park — an obstructed park view can be enjoyed from each of the luxury hotel’s 45 rooms and suites. Decades ago, the building housed London’s original Playboy Club, but the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel now plays host to well-heeled guests and celebrities who appreciate the blend of discretion and luxury at this smaller London hotel. Its flagship restaurant, American steakhouse CUT, by Wolfgang Puck, is found in the two-story lobby. Warm colors and chrome- and leather-heavy décor comes courtesy of designer Thierry W. Despont, and an enviable display of art includes works by Damien Hirst. A cozy bar offers an excellent wine list and premium cocktails, with a comfy library and media room available for in-house guests. But the real standout here is the rooms — impossibly spacious with warm woods, soft velvet, Ambarino marble bathrooms and black-and-white prints of British starlets on the walls.
