The beds at Dukes have a clean and inviting appearance, with 100 percent Egyptian cotton linens and platform mattresses that are on the firmer side. All-white linens, including a cover for the lightweight duvet and pillowcases with valances, are used on the beds, complementing the matching rectangular headboard and bed skirt fabric in a rough-woven beige. Four downy pillows are provided at the head of the bed, with adjustable chrome reading lamps mounted to either side of the headboard. Without those heavy, chintzy decorative covers and pillows that English hotels are known world-round for, the clean-lined beds add to the airiness of the guest rooms, matching the white waist-high wainscoting and crown molding on the ceiling.
