The last renovation Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London underwent was for its reopening in May 2000. Previously the Hyde Park Hotel, the building was purchased by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 1996. The company conducted a four-year, £57 million restoration that included a complete renovation of the 198 rooms and suites, as well as a redesign of the restaurants and bar, spa, fitness center and even the events spaces. The extensive renovation, executed by RPW Interior Design, infused the luxury hotel space with a bit of Asian flair but also retained much of the traditional, luxurious English elegance of the original hotel.
