What is involved in The Dorchester’s turndown service?

The Dorchester offers a classic turndown service. At night, the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel’s housekeeping staff pulls down the white sheets and draws the ivory underside drapes. The lights are dimmed, with only the lamp on the nightstand glowing. On the bedside table, you’ll find a bottle of Dorchester-branded water and a black bookmark with bold lime, maroon, hot pink and red horizontal stripes tucked into a small book about the Dorchester Collection hotels. The breakfast menu is also left out, in case you want to order ahead for the morning (the traditional English breakfast is a filling, delicious choice). Next to the bed, a white linen mat sits out with white terry-cloth slippers sporting a light gray “D” on top. For an extra dose of coziness, we suggest warming the hooded terry-cloth robe on the heated towel rack in the bathroom. Then put it on, slink into bed with a book and that bookmark, and you’ll be asleep in no time.
