The Egerton House Hotel, housed within two red brick townhouses on a quiet street, has a clean and traditional English design style. Guests climb a set of stone steps to reach the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel’s entrance, which leads to an inviting and welcoming reception area. With an Oriental carpet, huge blooms of fresh orchids decorating the fireplace mantel, and tables and comfortable armchairs, guests are instantly transported to a posh local’s living room. Ornately carved wooden tables display small bouquets or bowls of sweets, such as yogurt balls and fruit candies, while board games, magazines and newspapers are tucked into the shelves in the lounge area. The homey touches continue with antique clocks and gilt-framed mirrors displayed on the walls, along with dozens upon dozens of interesting sketches and original works of art. Don’t miss the sketch of Snoopy by Charles Schulz in the corner of the warm wood-laden bar.
