The Savoy has three distinct restaurants. The River Restaurant has been famous for employing creative chefs since 1890, when Auguste Escoffier brought French cuisine to the English capital (and invented the Peach Melba in the process). However, it is the less-formal Savoy Grill that now has the big-name head chef: Gordon Ramsay. Meanwhile, the hotel’s third restaurant, Simpson's-in-the-Strand, has been serving the very best of British cooking for more than 170 years. Visitors to the London hotel can also enjoy an informal Afternoon Tea in the Thames Foyer, a range of snacks in the Art Deco Beaufort Bar or simply a cool cocktail in the super-elegant American Bar.
