The relaxing waiting area of The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, London only hints at what’s to come. It’s a quiet, minimal-looking space with wood floors and inlaid tatami mats in the middle. The focal point is a lime wall with a bench that holds slatted wooded chairs with cream cushions. A candle sits at the side of one chair, and an orchid on the other. As you take a seat on the bench to fill out paperwork, a staff member will collect your shoes in a basket and fit you with the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star spa’s black plastic sandals.
After the paperwork is complete, visit the spa shop on the other side of the waiting room. Peruse products that are used in the treatments, like Aromatherapy Associates’ De-Stress Mind Bath and Shower Oil, along with meditative CDs and more.
