Before you book a room at Hotel Bel-Air, there are a couple of important things to note about the property.
1. The property is tucked away in the California hills within the gated Bel Air community. This creates a peaceful, exclusive setting but it’s not the most convenient Los Angeles hotel if you plan to spend very little time in your hotel. Guests come here to escape the urban jungle, and while Beverly Hills and all the shopping and restaurants of Rodeo Drive are only minutes away.
2. Rooms are actually little bungalows; we recommend booking one with a garden patio to fully take advantage of the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel’s storybook grounds. Also, some guests might not like doors that open up directly in front of beds in the basic rooms — the patio helps makes the space feel more expansive.
3. You’ll want to book a spa treatment. Spa treatments are pricey but employ La Prairie’s exquisite products. If you wait to decide on a spa visit after your arrival, you might find that it’s booked up.
4. Bring your swimsuit. The pool at the Los Angeles hotel is a beautiful retreat if the weather is warm enough. The oval-shaped pool surrounded by palm trees is also a lovely place to spend an afternoon.
