There are a few good museums located near The Beverly Hilton. The best one is the Getty Museum, which is about 5.5 miles from the hotel and features European paintings, drawings, sculpture, decorative arts, and European and American photographs. However, don’t forget to stop and admire the museum building itself. Built by Richard Meier, the striking white structure is made of cleft-cut Italian travertine. It sits on the Santa Monica Mountains, offering a view of the Pacific Ocean, the San Gabriel Mountains and the city. You can also check out the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or as the locals call it, LACMA. It’s the largest art museum in the western United States, with a collection that spans the history of art and is about four miles from the hotel. Gearheads will want to race over to the Petersen Automotive Museum, which is three-and-half miles from The Beverly Hilton, to see the more than 150 rare and classic cars, trucks and motorcycles. The Meier-designed Paley Center for the Media, the closest museum to the hotel sitting only about eight blocks away, examines the cultural, creative and social significance of TV, radio and other emerging media platforms. Couch potatoes will want to check out its library of more than 150,000 radio and television shows, including oldies like The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, The Mod Squad and, fittingly, The Beverly Hillbillies.
