The Polo Lounge’s pastry chef, Julie Jangali, began her culinary career at the Wardman Park Marriott in Washington D.C. under executive pastry chef Mohan De Silva from 2002 to 2007. While there, she participated on De Silva’s 2005 National Pastry Team Championship squad and in Hotelympia, winning silver medals in chocolate and sugar showpieces. She then moved on to become the executive pastry chef at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront for two years, and then the executive pastry chef at the Grand Hyatt in Washington D.C. from 2009 to 2012. Julie joined The Beverly Hills Hotel in mid-2012 as the executive pastry chef. Since being here, she’s added new desserts — her specialties are traditional desserts with a creative twist — to all the dining outlets and banquet menus.
