A sprawling, open-air luxury spa in Los Cabos
13 Treatment Rooms
The spa at One&Only Palmilla must be something special if it competes with the resort’s oceanfront infinity pool and gorgeous soft-sand beach. As it happens, the One&Only Spa at Palmilla easily entices would-be sunbathers with a breezy indoor-outdoor facility that has views of the water and is surrounded by manicured gardens. The 20,000-square-foot luxury spa has 13 private spa villas, plunge pools, steam rooms and outdoor fountains and verdant green spaces that add to its tranquil ambience. A wide-ranging treatment menu is highlighted by traditional Mexican healing techniques and unique rituals exclusive to the Los Cabos spa.
The Spa Villas
Treatments take place in private spa villas with red tile roofs and whitewashed walls. They feature outdoor beds and soaking tubs, air-conditioned massage pavilions and open-air gardens. Six are considered double villas, and these luxurious spaces are meant to be shared with a partner and include outdoor rain showers, whirlpool baths and palapa-covered Mexican day beds. The two ocean-side palapas (near the resort’s Vista Point) allow the sound of lulling waves and sweet ocean breezes to become part of the spa experience. A slew of therapies are offered in these outdoor spaces, but the romantic nighttime massage for two is particularly tempting.
The 40-plus spa treatments on the menu run the gamut from ancient Mexican healing traditions (a Mayan-inspired deep tissue massage) to cutting-edge services (an age-defying facial that instantly plumps skin). Notably, the spa collaborated with international spa brand ESPA to create many of treatments here, and the high-end ESPA products are used in many of the services. But before you’re escorted to a spa villa and pampered from head to toe, hit the multi-step hydrotherapy circuit, which includes time spent in an outdoor rain shower, hot and cold plunge pools, an aromatherapy steam room and a sauna.
Two recommended signature services include the Secret Remedy Signature Treatment, which involves a body scrub, massage and facial (all using organic herbs from the resort’s herb garden), and the Palmilla Chocolate Synergy Spa Treatment, which features four different massage techniques using a Mexican herbal compress and chocolate oil. Both begin with a floral foot wash and are finished with a tea ceremony that includes fresh fruit.
Facials, massages, body scrubs and more are also available. Before and after any treatment, guests can use the women’s or men’s lounge areas, which include eucalyptus steam showers and complimentary teas and coconut cookies. Hungry for more? Dine on healthy spa cuisine in the outdoor wellness garden.
An on-site salon means you can get your hair cut or makeup done before a big night out (or perhaps before a beachside wedding?), plus enjoy elaborate hand and foot services designed by a renowned podiatrist. Don’t skip checking out the Wellness Center and all of its healthy lifestyle-minded services. While the well-equipped gym and personal trainers are top-notch, the additional amenities are really worth investigating — they include corrective body mechanics, outdoor fitness classes like beach boot camp, private yoga classes and lifestyle nutrition coaching.
