Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Galaxy Hotel seemingly pulls off the impossible: pleasing couples, families and business travelers all at once. It might have something to do with the spacious rooms, award-winning restaurants, extensive leisure facilities and dedicated kids’ zones.
  • A major draw is the 807,293-square-foot Grand Resort Deck, where you’ll discover the Skytop Adventure Rapids ride and the world’s largest rooftop wave pool.
  • The Macau hotel is one of city’s top picks among gourmands, thanks to its long list of enticing Chinese, Italian, French and Portuguese restaurants available throughout the resort.
  • Every 20 minutes, the dazzling Diamond Lobby springs to life with a Vegas-style water, light and music performance.
  • Galaxy Hotel is a destination for foodies, especially upscale Italian restaurant 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana with its housemade pastas and fine-dining ambiance.

Things to Know

  • If you’re feeling lost, just keep walking. The resort’s Promenade Shops form a loop, so you should find your way back to where you started within 15 minutes.
  • While the hotel’s outdoor heated pool is open year-round, the Grand Resort Deck closes between December and March.
  • A narrow yet functional gym has everything you need to work up a sweat, including rowing machines, free weights, yoga balls and a Smith weight training machine.
  • Forgot your phone charger? Don’t worry: USB ports and charging cables come standard in every Galaxy Room.
  • Quality coffee is never far away. Peppered about the Promenade mall is Café De Paris Monte-Carlo, whimsical Cha Bei tea shop, Passion by Gerard Dubois bakery, Rethink Coffee Roasters and Starbucks.

The Rooms

  • The guest rooms at Galaxy Hotel boast ample space to stretch out, ranging from 376 to more than 1,300 square feet in size. Light wood veneer paneling, natural bamboo wallpaper and rich, gem-toned accents make even entry-level rooms feel large and serene.
  • A nice local touch, traditional Macanese candies from Yeng Kee bakery will be waiting for you in your room upon arrival.
  • Among the hotel's 1,307 rooms and 142 deluxe suites, the two-bedroom corner suites are great for families. Each offers a spacious living room, two bathrooms, 65-inch Samsung LED TVs, Bose speakers and excellent views of Macau from wrap-around bedroom windows.
  • The top two floors of the luxury hotel are devoted to Galaxy’s luxurious Palace and Royal Suites, each of which comes with 24-hour butler service.
  • No matter which room you choose, you can count on a walk-in shower, a separate bathtub and spa-worthy microfiber robes with matching slippers. While you’re scoping out the bathroom, check out the amenity kits, sporting glamorous yet sustainable toiletries by Bulgari and a mix of eco-friendly bamboo and fabric-made toothbrushes, combs and razors.

The Restaurants

  • At 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana, the multi-course Italian degustation menu goes from strength to strength with divine dishes, such as housemade tagliolini with black truffle, confit salted cod and slow-roasted Aveyron lamb.
  • Romantic and refined, Café de Paris Monte-Carlo is the place for an indulgent afternoon tea session or elegant lunch. You’ll know it by the glittering chandelier, plush banquettes and nods to Monaco’s racing history in a mini gallery near the entrance.
  • For approachable Tuscan cuisine, head to Terrazza, where you’ll be showered with made-from-scratch pasta, slow-cooked veal loin and an enormous wine cellar. If you’re dining with a larger group, ask about the private Glass House on the terrace for a chance to enjoy an intimate evening, wine workshops or whiskey tastings.
  • After dinner, The Macallan Whiskey Bar & Lounge should be your next port of call. Walk into this wood-clad hideaway to savor more than 400 varieties of the bar’s namesake spirit among the ambiance of Old World Scotland — think a roaring fire, a live band every night, snug blankets and hearty leather Chesterfields.
