Altira Macau’s signature Italian restaurant Aurora stocks more than 600 wines from around the world in its expansive, temperature-controlled cellar located right in the main dining room. If you’re in the mood to splurge on a rare bottle of wine, the restaurant’s crown jewel, a Chateau Latour vertical collection from 1945 to 2005, certainly fits the bill.
You’ll find the entire collection listed at very the beginning of Aurora’s wine list, but our Forbes Travel Guide editors note that certain bottles are not available for purchase singularly and are only included in the entire vertical, which is valued at around HK$1.45 million (US$186,771). Ask your server or the knowledgeable beverage manager for recommendations or more info about the Chateau Latour suite of wines.
If you’re feeling indulgent (or particularly generous), Aurora offers a variety of special and rare wines. We are more than happy to boast that our restaurant houses the Chateau Latour Vertical Collection 1945 to 2005, worth $1.5 million. The Chateau Latour name dates back to the 1300s, with the vineyard created in the 1680s. Chateau Latour is located in the heart of the Médoc wine region northwest of Bordeaux, and the vineyards main territory overlooks the estuary of the Gironde River, helping to ensure a mild climate over the centuries. The Vertical Collection consists of one bottle of each vintage from 1945 to 2005, and you can ask your server if you wish to purchase one of them.
